I’m currently going through finals month. What is that? It’s when you have projects due for the first week of june but in the meantime you have a million papers and presentations to hand in every week. So you can imagine that my basic and most loyal company these days consists of books and my laptop. Wish I could spend my days in such a glorious place as the NY public library for this, but sadly I live thousands of miles away from it.
Ahorita estoy en mes de finales. Qué es eso? Es cuando tienes entregas finales en la primera semana de junio pero mientras tanto cada semana tienes que entregar ensayos, reportes y presentaciones. Así que se imaginarán que mis aliados del momento son los libros y mi laptop. Ojalá pudiera pasar por todo ésto en la NY public library que me encanta, pero tristemente vivo a miles de kilómetros de ella.

Every couple of days my computer decides to crash. And it just freaks me out because my computer is my work tool! Its where I work on everything for my masters, where I edit my photos, and also where I procrastinate. And for some reason I remembered this picture. He just looks so zen, so much at ease. I want to be zen like that.
Cada tercer día mi computadora decide que ya no quiere funcionar. Y me pone muy mal por que mi computadora es mi herramienta de trabajo! Es donde hago todas mis entregas y trabajos de la maestría, donde edito mis fotos, y también donde pierdo tiempo. Y por alguna extraña razón me acordé del hombrecito en ésta foto. Se ve tan zen, tan relajado. Yo quiero sentirme así.

I took this photo by setting my camera for long exposure. It took a few tries but finally I got like 3 or 4 shots that I liked, including this one. I just love how you can see people in their separate lives come together in a transitional moment.
Tomé ésta foto con mi cámara en exposición lenta. Me tomó un rato, pero por fin saqué 3 o 4 fotos, incluyendo ésta, que me gustaron. Me encanta como se puede ver a las distintas personas en sus vidas separadas pero juntas en un momento de transición.

This building caught my attention when I was walking the streets of New York. Who designed it? When was it built? What is the meaning of its design? are all questions that crossed my mind when I saw it… In a parallel world it makes me think of the Eye of Sauron in Mordor from Lord of the Rings, but in a modernized version. Can anyone please help me figure this out?
Éste edificio me llamó muchísimo la atención cuando caminaba por Nueva York. ¿Quién lo diseñó? ¿Cuándo se construyó? ¿Cual es el concepto o significado del edificio? son preguntas que pasaron por mi mente cuando lo vi… En un mundo paralelo me evoca al ojo de Sauron en Mordor del Señor de los Anillos, pero en una versión moderna. ¿Alguien me puede ayudar para saber más de éste edificio?

I posted about this library last week (see here). There were many people of all ages just sitting there reading or studying or checking their phone. I do think libraries are just peaceful places where your mind is free… I’m a romantic when it comes to books and libraries.
Hablé de ésta biblioteca la semana pasada (click aquí). Habían muchas personas de todas las edades sentadas leyendo o estudiando o checando su celular. Creo que las bibliotecas son lugares de paz donde la mente es libre… soy muy romántica cuando se trata de libros y bibliotecas.

This is a library right in the center of Guadalajara called ”Biblioteca Iberoaméricana Octavio Paz”. Originally it was built in 1591 as a church for a religious school, the murals were aded in the 20th century by Siqueiros and de la Cueva. Its one of my favorite places in the whole city.
Esta biblioteca se llama ”Biblioteca Iberoaméricana Octavio Paz” y esta justa en el centro de Guadalajara. Se contruyó en 1591 como parte del colegio de Santo Tomás. Los murales fueron agregados en el siglo 20 por Siqueiros y de la Cueva. Es uno de mis lugares favoritos de toda la ciudad.

I can’t believe how fast time goes by. Where does it go?! Anyway.. these are more photos from when I went to Queretaro about a month ago. I loved the streets in that city. Can’t wait to visit them again.
No puedo creer lo rápido que se pasa el tiempo. A dónde se va?!… Éstas son más fotos de cuando fui hace como un mes. Me encantaron las calles de Querétaro. Ya quiero regresar.

If an architect ever tells you that a building in sensual, don’t argue. I used to make fun of them, but then one day you come across a building with beautiful lines… That was the day I shut up. It’s obviously not the best building ever, but there’s just something mesmerizing about it. Don’t make fun of me!
Si un arquitecto algún día les habla de un edificio sensual, no protesten. Yo me burlaba de ellos, hasta que un día te encuentras con un edificio con líneas ”sensuales”… y ese día me callé y lo acepté. No es el mejor edificio del mundo, pero tiene un je-ne-sais-quoi que me hipnotiza. No se burlen de mi!

This is my longest post yet. I went to Querétaro a couple of days ago, and I think I’m in love. The people were super nice, the food amazing, the city clean and I can’t even start with the architecture (which you can get a taste of here). I really want to go back soon. Go!!
Éste es mi post mas largo a la fecha. Fui a Querétaro hace unos días y creo que me enamoré. La gente es súper amable, la comida muy buena, la ciudad limpia y mejor ni empiezo a hablar de la arquitectura (aquí está una probadita). Muero por volver ya. Vayan!!
