Instincts

Oxford

I’ve been taking pictures for some years now and, although I’m definitely not an expert, I’ve learned a few things along the way. The most important for me has been it’s more about following my instincts than rules. Because if you’re like me, the picture will be no good (no matter how much technique you put into it) unless it moves you in some way. It can be anything. People, flowers, buildings, a moment, a scene, colors, a feeling, a story, anything. I guess it all comes down to connecting with something and expressing it somehow.

For this picture I pictured an old lady coming out every morning to water her flowers.

Reading in a Park (London edition)

London

I took this picture on September 9th at the top of Hamsptead Park, and I cannot believe that was 3 months ago!! Anyway, it was a beautiful day and I really wanted to capture the colors in the clouds. I only realized a few moments later that there was a woman reading. So basically, this picture is a mistake that I like very much.

In other news, I am terrible at blogging. I had too many things to do all the time this year and I honestly forgot to keep posting. And it just sounds awful now that I’m admitting it. But everything else turned out fine and now that I’m taking a bit of a break I will finally share some of the pictures I’ve taken in the las few months.

The Moon.

There was a lot of frenzy about the ”red moon” last week and unfortunately I didn’t see it. But there’s something beautiful and mysterious about the moon, any moon.

On the road (Gto-Gdl)

I’ve become very acquainted with the road to and from Guadalajara-Guanajuato. Most of the time I spend it sleeping, but there have been times when I’ve just spent it looking out the window. And its a very pretty sight, especially during sunset on the way back to Guadalajara. I have a million pictures of this road.

I was only at the beach for 3 days. The most relaxing 3 days I’ve had in a long while. I really think morning walks by the beach should be the norm to live a happy and healthy life. Imagine what a great start it would be to walk the beach and then go to work. Its my daily fantasy.

Years ago one of my best friends and I would joke that if things got too tough we would go and live at the beach. We would sell necklaces and that sort of thing you always see being sold at the beach. That was our master plan. Many years have passed since then, it something we’d no longer do. And yet everytime I’m at or thinking of the beach I’m overcome and wish I never had to leave it. (If my writing seems weird, its because I’ve been reading Jane Austen.)

This is an archeological site where Guanajuato, Michoacan and Jalisco intersect. It was a transitional place for various native cultures, resulting in various influences in the architecture of the place. I loved that it was empty and we were free to explore and study.

I was set on finding the lake inside Central Park, and it was worth the chase. True: the water looks toxic, BUT its just so beautiful that you just make a mental note to not touch it and enjoy the rest. The first photo is looking towards the Upper-West side, I think. And the second is very Bridget Jones-y.
